Kelly was featured in a Times Online article, giving advice to X Factor winner Joe McElderry before performing at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Winter Ball.

“…It took Destiny’s Child six years to get a record deal. Sometimes there is a waiting list and you have to struggle and have patience.

Personally, I think that strengthens you and makes you better and more appreciative when you get there. I hope all the X Factor finalists appreciate that and know that there’s somebody ready and willing to take their spot. So it’s important to always have that passion and love for music.”
